42 of the Prettiest Things to See in Charleston – Borrowing Britain

The days are warm, and a summer haze is upon us… that communal feeling of melancholy drifting through the air. I spend my weekends discovering new cobblestone paths, trying new beachside eats and window shopping at the prettiest antique stores that I could afford maybe if I were Emily Gilmore. And I wouldn’t have it any other way! It may have taken some time, but I’m becoming quite settled here in Charleston. I can hardly believe it’s been 8 months since I picked up the key to my new home. And I realized I’ve been hoarding more than a few photos I’ve taken along the way. So bear with me as I share this photo diary of my humble city in Sweet Carolin(a)… what I’d brag are the prettiest things to see in Charleston!

There’s just no getting over these terracotta shutters sitting humbly across from Rainbow Row.

The Aiken-Rhett House boasts this gorgeous art gallery inside its 19th c walls. Don’t miss the ah-mazing intricacy of the crown molding too!

You had me at handpainted tiles…

Goat. Sheep. Cow. was one of my favorite early discoveries. A gourmet cheese shop with some serious character and fluid nods to Europe, I was hooked the second I spotted the blue + white plates! You can read more of my favorite eats in the city here if you’d like to take a gander.

Psalm 51:1-2: “Have mercy on me, O God, according to your unfailing love; according to your great compassion, blot out my transgressions. Wash away all my iniquity and cleanse me from my sin.”

The most scrumptious treats from Sugar Bakeshop!

I’ve said it once, and I’ll say it a thousand more times. This tiny pink house and I are a match made in Heaven.

One of the most charming details of Southern architecture is the Welcoming Piazza – a side porch that runs the length of the house with multiple doorway entries along its path.

Anyone recognize this gem from The Notebook?

In summary: This city is a delight to the eyes and medicine for the soul. I’ll belong to Charleston forever and always, and can’t wait to keep exploring more + more every chance I get!
